These are select images from my self-made book, Huay Pakoot. The book showcases the humble and hardworking lives of the people living in a village north of Chiang Mai, Thailand, called Huay Pakoot. Founded around 550 years ago by two siblings, the village has been occupied by the Karen tribe since. The village is home to 60 households, 27 of which are homestays. The families speak both Thai and the local language, Pakinyaw. The tradition of raising elephants began about 130 years ago, when they were brought by Laotian traders. I lived and volunteered in the village for two weeks which inspired me to start the project.
